Piston oil jet removal and installation for 1993-2002 Ford 2.0L VIN A engines
Engine Builders: The AERA Technical Committee offers the following information regarding camshaft identification for 2001-2003 Hyundai 3.0 and 3.5L engines. Previously published service manual information has been called misleading, resulting in incorrect assembly. Each of these engines use four unique camshafts that look the same.
Each camshaft for the 3.0L and 3.5L engine is etched with a letter on the end of the camshaft to identify the location the camshaft should be mounted in. The letter should be read while held in the "6 o'clock" position and viewed with a good working flashlight. Use the illustration in Figure 1, for identification and location.

Caution: while the camshafts all have letters cast in between the lobes with RI, RE, LI, LE, these casting letters are meaningless and should NOT be used to determine camshaft location.
Engine Builders: The AERA Technical Department offers the following information regarding piston oil jet removal and installation for 1993-2002 Ford 2.0L VIN A engines. This information should be considered any time the crankshaft has been removed for service work. This engine is built by Mazda and utilizes a cooling oil jet nozzle for each piston.
To supplement easy removal and installation, these tools p/n T92C-6327-AH and T92C-6327-BH should be used (see Figure 2). It is also recommended to use four new piston oil cooling jets (p/n 6C327) as they're often damaged during removal. Some shops drill a small hole into the oil jet and then tap a screw into the hole, to which they attach a slide hammer for pulling the jet out.
During proper installation, each oil jet will align with the piston's taper cutout of each piston. The jets are press-fit into the block with a minimu"-.433" (10.50-11.00 mm) above the block mounting pad.
Caution: depth over specification can damage the oil jet nozzle. Pressure below specification indicates loose fit; replace the cylinder block and oil jet if that occurs.
