DynoMax Names Top Competitors in 2008 'Power to the Wheels' Dyno Tour

DynoMax Performance Exhaust Gears Up for Its Second-Annual Championship Shootout to Culminate Popular Dyno Series

After making history last year in the DynoMax Power to the Wheels Dyno Tour inaugural season, enthusiasts everywhere were anxiously waiting to see what – and who – would be competing in this year’s DynoMax Power to the Wheels Championship Shootout.

The DynoMax “Power to the Wheels” Dyno Tour tested the horsepower and torque of muscle cars outfitted with DynoMax exhaust systems and mufflers at more than 10 popular events across the nation this past spring and summer.

After over 700 dyno runs, DynoMax Performance Exhaust has named the Top Five Qualifiers for each of its competitive classes, Power-Adder and All-Motor. The Top Five Qualifiers for each class have been invited to participate in the tour’s Championship Shootout next week in Springfield, Mo., during the Street Machine Summer Nationals enthusiast event. The first-place winner of each class will receive $6,000; the second-place winner of each class will receive $4,000; and the third-place winner of each class will receive $2,500.

During the shootout, the Qualifiers will have two dyno runs to prove which DynoMax-outfitted car has the most horsepower. The Power to the Wheels Dyno Tour Top Five Qualifiers in the Power-Adder Class are:

1 – Danny Tyner, 1963 Ford Falcon

Pair of DynoMax Bullet mufflers, 1,778 HP

2 – Brian Anderson, 1964 Rambler Classic

Pair of DynoMax Bullet mufflers, 1,476.25 HP

3 – Brian Wall, 1967 Chevy Camaro

Pair of DynoMax Ultra Flo mufflers, 1,333.45 HP

4 – Jim Plimpton, 1988 Ford Thunderbird

Pair of DynoMax Race Collector mufflers, 1,312.45 HP

5 – Mark Gjavenis, 1965 300 Deluxe Chevelle

Pair of DynoMax Ultra Flo welded mufflers, 1,249.54 HP

The Power to the Wheels Dyno Tour Top Five Qualifiers in the All-Motor Class are:

1 – Darren Tedder, 1971 Plymouth Cuda

Pair of DynoMax Ultra Flo welded mufflers, 900.21 HP

2 – Richard Burdette, 1969 Dodge Dart

Pair of DynoMax Bullet mufflers, 711 HP

3 – Jim LaRoy, 1972 Dodge Demon

Pair of DynoMax Bullet mufflers, 680.53 HP

4 – Scott Turner, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS

Pair of DynoMax Bullet mufflers, 548.01 HP

5 – Cory Gallus, 1998 Chevrolet Corvette

Pair of DynoMax Bullet mufflers, 534.16 HP

The DynoMax Power to the Wheels Dyno Tour awarded $50 to first-place daily winners at each event. The daily first- and second-place event winners also were entered into a national ranking based on high horsepower for the opportunity to compete at the Championship Shootout during the 2008 Street Machine Summer Nationals, Springfield, Mo., Sept. 12-13, 2008.

This year’s tour was also heavily supported by Summit Racing Equipment. Competitors at event across the country were able to compete not only for daily qualifying event awards from DynoMax, they also were rewarded with Summit Racing Equipment contingency awards.
