Engine Builders Take Advantage of New CNC Porting Technology
5-axis CNC digitizing quickly reproduces race winning cylinder heads. This new patented process replaces the "patch" method of copying a cylinder head port saving the engine builder many hours of digitizing and joining patches.
CENTROID announces a CNC cylinder head porting breakthrough technology with its new 5 axis digitizing probe. The CENTROID probe uses all 5-axes of motion at once to copy hand shaped cylinder head intake or exhaust ports increasing both accuracy and digitizing speed while making the digitizing process simpler.
This new patented process replaces the commonly used 3+2 multiple patch method of copying a cylinder head port saving the engine builder many hours of digitizing and joining patches. The new digitizing is fully automatic and is performed on the very machine and fixture that also ports the cylinder heads. Only one setup is necessary for both digitizing and cutting this provides inherent 5-axis positional accuracy and eliminates cumbersome data translation problems saving time and effort.
Now it is possible to digitize in the morning and CNC port a new head in the afternoon. Engine shops can now produce identical CNC heads with amazing speed and accuracy. This new porting technology is standard equipment on both the CENTROID A532 CNC cylinder head machining center and the A590 high-speed porting machine. Everything needed to start CNC porting heads is supplied in one complete package, the machine, software, tooling, fixture plates and comprehensive CNC porting training using your own heads and designs.
