Cryogenically Treated Engine Parts
Black Ice brand of internal engine parts have increased overall component stability and wear resistance.
In order to make the cryogenic process accessible to racers who might not have the budget of bigger teams, Elgin Industries has introduced a new line of cryogenically treated engine parts. Named BLACK ICE, the line includes camshafts, push rods, rocker arms, valves, valve springs and timing components. “As far as we know, we’re the first to offer a line of pre-cryo treated parts in the aftermarket,” explains Rick Simko, national marketing manager. “Others treat parts and offer the service, but we think this is a great niche to give our customers the engine builders a step up on their competition.”
Simko says "We’ve found that we can optimize a material’s microstructure through cryogenic and tempering treatments. These significantly increase overall component stability and wear resistance, which is obviously very important in high-output applications. We’re applying the BLACK ICE processes to push rods, valves, lifters, valve springs, and a variety of other wear-intensive parts. We believe this new line will be a major contributor to the success of performance parts distributors, retailers and their customers."
