Cummins Heavy Duty Rebuild Kits

New Engine Kits Available for Cummins ISX and QSX Diesel Engines

IPD, a leading aftermarket provider of rebuild components for heavy-duty diesel and natural gas powered engines has announced the launch of a new product line of replacement parts the Cummins ISX and QSX on highway and industrial diesel engines. The initial offering will include components for in-frame rebuild, pistons, cylinder liners, bearings and gasket kits as well as valve train rebuild parts.

This product line will feature an aftermarket industry first, one piece steel pistons in both open and closed skirt designs. These new pistons will utilize IPD’s patent pending technology of manufacturing one piece steel pistons from a high strength alloy and heat treated steel casting. This process was introduced into their product line in 2003 and has been successfully and extensively tested.

IPDSteel™ One-Piece Piston
Each IPDSteel™ Piston starts with a heat treated high strength steel casting, a manufacturing process developed by IPD.
This process has been extensively tested  and successfully proven in many applications since 2003. For the ISX/QSX, IPD offers the latest open and closed skirt profiles depending on application.

Piston Pin
Piston pins from IPD for Cummins ISX/QSX are manufactured from a hardened chromium, molybdenum, nickel alloy steel to produce excellent tensile strength and wearresistance.

Gaskets and Gasket Kits
IPD uses premier materials designed for heavy duty industrial engine applications. Integral valve cover and oil pan seals are
composed of a metal core and molded rubber to assure a positive seal. IPD's one-piece head gasket has been designed to be used with flat top cylinder liners, which IPD offers as well.

Main and Rod Bearings
IPD's main and rod bearings are bi-metal bearing with a copper/lead alloy and steel backed for fitment, strength and durability. The layered structure of the bearings provides optimum performance. The result is fatigue strength, seizure resistance, wear resistance, conformability, embeddability as well as corrosion and cavitation resistance.

Valve Train Components
IPD is known world-wide for providing the highest quality valve train components throughout our product line. This continues
with the ISX/QSX program where exhaust valves, for example, are made of high quality 23-8N material. This material is a
austenitic, nitrogen-bearing chrome-nickel alloy possessing excellent high temperature strength, hardness and corrosion resistance to combustion by-products. In addition, IPD specifies grade 6 Stellite facing for wear resistance.
Intake Valves from IPD are created from EN52 valve steel that has mechanical properties such as low rate of fatigue crack
growth and increases in fatigue strength. IPD cylinder liners for Cummins ISX/QSX applications are induction hardened for improved wear resistance and strength. IPD offers the latest “flat top” liner flange profile that can also be retrofitted to earlier engines in complete sets.

“As IPD grows our business, adding the Cummins ISX engine was a natural progression for our on highway truck offering," says Bob Straw, VP Sales and Marketing. "IPD has a long history of experience working in the Caterpillar on-highway truck market with engine models such as 3406, C12 and C15, along with many others. This experience has laid the foundation to expand our on-highway coverage to one of the more popular engine models in this market. Also, with IPD’s roots in industrial applications adding the QSX engine with its many similarities to the ISX made perfect sense to include in our offering as well."
