Icon Pistons Announces New IMCA Awards For Winning, Engine Claims
Awards for IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars are the newest addition to Icon Forged Piston’s post-season prize program for 2011.
IMCA drivers in the division accepting the most engine claims or exchanges receive product certificates in increments of $400, $300, $200, $150 and $100.
Champions in each of the five regions for IMCA Modifieds receive a set of pistons from the Carson City, Nev., manufacturer. National champions for both the Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and Smiley’s Racing Chassis Southern SportMods earn $400 product certificates.
Runners-up in the Modified regions and in the SportMod national standings get $300, with $200 for third, $150 for fourth and $100 for fifth.
Icon also returns to the national Modified decal program and all drivers in that division are required to display two decals on their race car to be eligible for post-season prizes.
“Many of our aftermarket engine parts manufacturers have a strong desire to see claimer engines remain a viable part of IMCA racing and rightfully so,” IMCA Marketing Director Kevin Yoder observed. “We share that same fundamental desire and the engine claim continues to play a prominent role in the enforcement of that philosophy. Icon has stepped up to support racers who have made the choice to build their own engines and compete at a high level.”
