Durable Teflon Hose

When Rubber Is Not Enough, Teflon Stands Up to Contact with a Wide Range of Various Fuels and Additives

Everyone has heard of the good, better, best marketing concept.  It’s when a manufacturer produces similar products that differ in levels of quality and features to meet their customer’s demands.  This can be applied to almost every industry and the performance plumbing industry is no exception.

In the performance plumbing world one of the leading factors to determine a good, better, best hose is the fluid compatibility of the inner tube.  Today, with so many different fuel options available it’s imperative to select the right hose based on your fuel needs.  Consumers have grown accustom to buying CPE rubber inner tube hose and aluminum fittings for their fuel lines but some mixtures and additives lessen the performance advantages of rubber hoses and change the rubber compound characteristics.

Aeroquip Performance’s answer to fuel compatibility is Teflon.  Teflon carries an excellent rating for just about any of today's fuel options. The physical properties of the Teflon inner tube result in a net neutral effect when it comes in contact with a wide range of various fuels and additives offering benefits of longevity of the hose, especially if the vehicle is stored for lengths of time.

Aeroquip Performance offers Teflon hoses and a matching fitting line that meet the market's needs. Hoses are available in -3, -4, -6, and -8 size and the engineered fittings are available in both a crimp and reusable style and available in straight, 45º and 90º degree configurations.

In using Teflon versus a CPE rubber hose for fuel applications, the installer should keep in mind a few things.  The product can be somewhat stiffer, the fittings can be slightly heavier and the installer will need to add a compression sleeve during assembly.

One of the benefits of the Aeroquip Performance offering is access to Aeroquip’s industrial hydraulics line up. The "industrial" hoses include the larger Teflon products including the -10,-12, -16, and -20 size hoses and fittings.

There is a common misconception that Teflon hose and fittings are more expensive than CPE rubber hose. In fact, Aeroquip Teflon hose is actually priced very competitively with AQP Braided Stainless hose. Teflon fittings are also priced competitively. Cost, compatibility and availability make Teflon hose and the matching fittings an excellent fuel solution.
