Coated Steel Distributor Gears
Expanded Line of Distributor Drive Gears are Compatible with Induction Hardened and Carburized Steel Roller Lifter Cams for Chrysler V-8s
Crane Cams
expands its line of coated steel distributor gears to include applications for
popular Chrysler V-8 engine applications. By using modern heat treating and
manufacturing processes, Crane Cams has developed this series of distributor
drive gears that are compatible with both induction hardened and carburized
steel roller lifter cams, providing OEM-style lifespan. They can also be used
on standard cast hydraulic and solid lifter camshafts.
These are
precision machined, specially coated and processed gears that are compatible
with cast flat faced and steel roller camshafts. Since roller camshafts are
made from either induction hardened or carburized steel, neither of these
materials are compatible with the normal stock distributor gears. In the past,
“bronze” distributor gears were used with these roller camshafts. In street
applications, these gears can wear at a quicker than desirable rate, requiring
preventative maintenance.
No more worrying
about which gear is correct for which camshaft, as these can be used for any
application.
