High-Flowing Diesel Fuel System

Twin CP3 Systems Increase Fuel Pressure And Volume To Support High Horsepower Applications

The heart of the late model Dodge and GM diesel fuel system is the CP3 high-pressure injection pump. The pump is responsible for supplying the injectors with over 25,000 PSI pressure, which is where much of the power capability of these trucks stems from. The factory CP3 pump, however, is only capable of producing about 600 horsepower while maintaining desired pressure and reliability. Beyond that point, pressure drops and fuel atomization becomes poor. This results in higher exhaust gas temperatures, reduced power, and decreased performance. ATS’ Twin CP3 Fuel System adds a secondary injection pump, along with other hardware, to maintain needed fuel volume. A number of features and recent refinements set the ATS Twin CP3 System apart from the competition.

An updated Twin CP3 Kit for the Dodge Cummins is being released which both reinforces and refines the kit. A new mounting bracket and idler pulley will be included with the kit and will fit older versions of the kit (using the sheet metal pump bracket). The new bracket improves fitment and reliability. First, the new idler increases belt tension and contact area with the billet CP3 pulley, ensuring consistent performance in ultra-high horsepower applications.  This will keep the pump spinning under high loads and high RPM, where the belt has the possibility of stretching and losing contact with the additional pump pulley.  Second, with the increased tension, the screech often heard when turning off a running motor, is eliminated.  This is a great refinement to the kit improving fit and finish.  Third, the new idler pulley routes the belt away from the power steering reservoir, which could contact the newer cylindrical reservoir found on later-model trucks. And finally, the new bracket replaces the original pump support bracket improving reliability and durability.  When used in conjunction with the new fabricated CP3 mount, these design elements have proven to be a rock-solid solution.

ATS Twin CP3 Kits offer:

    * Higher fuel volume at commanded rail pressure

    * Smaller pulley wheel allowing for max flow out of secondary CP3

    * Twin high pressure fuel lines instead of tapping into the factory line

    * Retains factory fuel pressure relief valve for safe operating parameters

    * Larger internal diamater high pressure fuel lines than factory and the competition

The ATS Twin CP3 Kit has proven itself in competition time after time. The key to achieving and maintaining higher power levels, is to not only to increase fuel pressure, but to increase fuel volume as well. This is where other kits fall short, they simply increase fuel pressure. We have put a lot of hours into engineering our Twin CP3 kit, and it is risen to the top of the leader board in efficiency, construction, and reliability.
