LS Dual Adjustable Launch Controller

Spark-Based RPM Limiter Gives Consistent Launches in Standing Start Race Applications

Lingenfelter Performance Engineering (LPE) introduces the LNC-003 Dual Adjustable Launch Controller, a two-step spark-based RPM limiter for use with LS-based engines and ignition systems.

Designed to give users the ability to control a primary and secondary RPM limit setting, the LNC-003 provides consistent launch RPM off the line in drag racing and other standing start racing applications. In turbocharged applications, the LNC-003 can be used to load the engine and help build additional boost off the line.

In addition, the controller can be used as an adjustable individual cylinder RPM limiter, providing reliable spark-based engine RPM limit control that is useful in vehicles with auxiliary fuel control systems. In these vehicles, it’s not possible to make sure both the factory ECM/PCM and the auxiliary systems turn off fuel at the same time, which can potentially cause engine damage.

The LNC-003 (part # L460105297) has a plug-and-play coil pack connection design that allows for easy of installation and removal.  It is designed for use on all General Motors LS engines – LS1, LS6, LS2, LS3, LS7, LQ4, L76, L92 and other Gen III/IV GM V8 applications – as well as GM V8 engines that use the same ignition coil system, including:

• 1997-2004 C5 Corvette

• 2005-2012 C6 Corvette (including Z06)

• 2010-2012 Camaro SS

• 1998-2002 LS1 V8-equipped Camaro and Firebird

• 2004-2006 Pontiac GTO

• 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 with the L76 or LS3 engine

• 2004-2006 Cadillac CTS-V

• 2009-2012 Cadillac CTS-V

• 1999-2012 GM CK trucks (Tahoe, Yukon, Escalade, H2, Sierra, Silverado and Avalanche) with the 4.8L, 5.3L, 6.0L, 6.2L Gen III/IV engines.  It will not work on 305 and 350 Vortec engines.

• 2003-2006 Chevrolet SSR

• 2006-2008 Trailblazer SS and other S/T body trucks with 4.8L, 5.3L and 6.0L Gen III/IV GM V8 engines

Lingenfelter’s LNC-003 features a custom-molded, high-temperature glass filled Nylon 6 enclosure that provides direct access to the launch controller settings without having to remove a cover or access panel.  Its RPM limiter activation can be adjusted from 1,500 to 9,900 RPM in 100 RPM increments, and there are separate primary and secondary RPMx100 and RPMx1000 switches for easy setting adjustment.  Both ground activation and 12-volt activation inputs are provided for the primary RPM limit activation.

Additional product benefits include a 40-MHz 16-bit automotive-qualified processor; dedicated timers on each coil drive circuit to keep timing accurate over the full RPM range; independent coil drives that provide Sequential Ignition Kill when RPM limiting is active; and active clamps and optical isolation to suppress electrical noise.
