Noting that the Daytona 500 is the most prestigious stock car race in the United States; and that Daytona International Speedway is the home of “The Great American Race”; and that winning the prestigious Harley J. Earl Trophy is stock car racing’s greatest prize and privilege; and that well-known politicians, celebrities and athletes take part in the festivities surrounding the Daytona 500, the resolution passed easily.

“What a special way to recognize the most anticipated event in racing history,” said Speedway President Robin Braig. “We are looking forward to the historic 50th running of ‘The Great American Race’ and the festivities that surround it.”
