The 2009 Production Engine Remanufacturers Assocation’s Spring Technical Conference will be held in NASCAR country, March 18-20, at the Hilton Charlotte University Place, Charlotte, NC.
The conference will open with a reception in the hotel’s Lakeview Room on Wednesday, March 18th from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Thursday morning will start with a buffet breakfast available from 8:15-9:00 a.m. in the same location. Opening remarks will begin promptly at 9 a.m.
Kicking off the educational sessions will be Bob Rodriguez, Manager of Special Projects for ASE, speaking on Alternative Fuel Perspectives. Next Engine Builder contributor Doug Anderson will address the new Chrysler Hemi.
At noon, participants will board a bus with a box lunch on their way to Welcome, NC, where Richard Childress Racing will host a tour from 1-3 p.m. Following the tours, the group will head to Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord,NC. PERA is arranging “ride alongs” for those who are interested in and daring enough to take a few laps around the 1.5-mile quad-oval track. The ride alongs will be followed by dinner in the track’s Speedway Club.
Friday morning’s sessions will open with coffee and a presentation from Lake Speed, Jr. from Joe Gibbs Racing on Understanding Zinc. A buffet style breakfast will be served during Mark Ferner of Shell Global Solutions presentation on A Comprehensive View of Synthetic Engine Oils.
In addition, a tour of Hendrick Motorsports is planned for the early afternoon on Friday, March 20, allowing people with early flights to easily return to Charlotte/Douglas International Airport.
