7th Annual Kooks Custom Headers NMCA Muscle Car Nationals

After rain cancelled the most recent event at Bowling Green, KY, racers of the NMCA are anxious to get back on the track for the upcoming Kooks Custom Headers NMCA Muscle Car Nationals, the third event of the 2009 Edelbrock Drag Racing Series.

Maple Grove Raceway near Reading, PA will serve as the backdrop for this event, which will be held June 5-7. Not only will there be 11 of the quickest, fastest and wildest classes in all of doorslammer racing, this race will also be hosting the shopHEMI.com Late Model HEMI Shootout, a race designed to showcase the quickest and fastest Late Model HEMI-powered machines in the county.

There will be two classes for the HEMI cars including Vortech Heads-up HEMI, which will pair the eight quickest cars against each other to determine who has the quickest late model HEMI in the country and DiabloSport HEMI Rumble, an index-style eliminator. There will also be bonus awards given to the quickest late model Challengers as well as a bonus for any HEMI or wedge-powered car if it can win one of the two regular NMCA nostalgia classes.

There will also be special late model HEMI car show classes presented by High Horse Performance. Gates open for this event at noon on Friday June 5 with a test and tune session to begin at 3:00 pm. First round of qualifying begins at 7:00 pm. Saturday will feature two more rounds of qualifying, with Sunday reserved for final eliminations.
