At the 2010 Reman Summit in Las Vegas on January 18, 2010, the Heavy Duty Remanufacturing Group of the Automotive Parts Remanufacturers Association (APRA) awarded ArvinMeritor its prestigious “Mike Hill Heavy Duty Remanufacturer of the Year Award.” The award is given to a company or individual who has demonstrated innovative ways to create and grow a successful business model and in the process supported industry efforts to advance the science of remanufacturing.
According to Bill Gager, President of APRA/HDRG, the panel’s decision to award ArvinMeritor is significant in that it represents a departure from past APRA awards that have been given to independent remanufacturers. “The recent emphasis of engine parts as a constituent group within HDRG has expanded our horizon to an all encompassing view of the marketplace including independents, major OEM component suppliers, OEM service as well as traditional rebuilders of electrical, drivetrain, brake, and steering,” stated Gager. “With over 300 members within the current HDRG membership structure there seems to be plenty of room for growth and HDRG welcomes everyone involved in heavy duty remanufacturing.”
ArvinMeritor was selected because of their success in executing a customer driven growth strategy that incorporates an all makes broad application based product portfolio with a world class delivery system relying on lean and green manufacturing production of innovative cutting edge products.
ArvinMeritor’s remanufacturing scope is worldwide and they have been a contributor to the HDRG with plant tours and speakers for many years. Their facilities cover more than 500,000 square feet including the Plainfield, IN, Reman Center with 275,000 square feet. Most of their customers are within a 24-hour delivery time of one of their facilities.
Doug Wolma, Reman General Manager, and Todd Kindem, Sales Manager Aftermarket, accepted the award from Sandra Standley, HDRG Chairman. It is a fitting tribute for a company that has long supported the remanufacturing industry.
