Ohio Technical College has named Steve McBride Director of the High Performance & Racing Program, where he will oversee students as they learn skills to become a successful high performance race team technician or performance shop owner.
"In the future, racing will involve learning how to incorporate today’s technology into tomorrow’s technology. For instance, NASCAR is headed to using fuel injection with an ethanol fuel, and our students have opportunities to practice pit stops on NASCAR high performance vehicles at the OTC facility," said McBride. "Our high performance & racing course focuses on a variety of racing series – including NHRA, IHRA, SCCA and ASA – to prepare students and make them versatile and valuable to future employers. OTC stresses hands-on training and real world experience."
A fourth-generation Ford technician, McBride attended Ford Motor Company service training at the University of Akron during his 17 years at various Ford dealerships. He also worked at a Rolls Royce restoration shop in Chardon, Ohio for three years. His love for racing and restoration combined with the desire to teach lead McBride to pursue a career in education.
