Reed has been in the casting repair business for 40 years. His experience began as a lead welder fusion welding diesel cylinder heads with Northwest Motor Welding. In 1973 started his first company where he began developing new metal stitching technologies and welding methods to expand upon his prior cast iron welding experience.
Reed currently has 16 US and many foreign patents in the field of casting repair with several more pending. Lock-N-Stitch Inc. was started in California in 1990 and has a service/repair division that utilizes many methods for repairing castings in-house or on-site. LNS repair technicians travel around the world repairing all kinds of damaged heavy castings in all industries. LNS also has a modern manufacturing division that produces the only full scale metal stitching product line available to companies who want to repair casting themselves.
Many engine manufacturers in the US and Europe rely on his experience, knowledge and products to develop reliable restoration procedures used in the remanufacturing of gas and diesel engines. Several OEM reman facilities use Lock-N-Stitch and Full-Torque products including Caterpillar, Cummins, Mack, Volvo Renault, Chrysler, Ford, John Deere and Detroit Diesel.
