3LivesPRVehicles-logoWith the recent introduction of the Magnum Performance Gaskets line, the MSI brand now covers “all three lives” of the classic overhead valve V8’s from GM, Ford and Chrysler.

In the 1st “life” of these engines, they powered America’s favorite sedans and muscle cars from the ‘50s to the ‘70s. In their 2nd life, these stump-pulling V8s drove an entire generation of light duty trucks from the late ‘60s to the ‘90s; an era when passenger cars and their engines were being downsized. The 3rd life of these classic V8s is in racing and street performance. That life began in the late ‘50s and is still going strong today.

“These classic small block and big block V8’s are an American tradition,” said Alex Grunfeld, Executive Vice President at Magnum Gaskets. “Of course, these engines evolved a great deal over the years, so Magnum’s engineers employ a variety of materials and gasket designs tailored to the requirements of the particular engine’s generation and its expected usage.”

Magnum maintains a “USA First” policy that gives priority to manufacturing and sourcing parts and materials in North America. More than 90% of Magnum products, including most Magnum Performance Gaskets, are designed, manufactured and packaged in the U.S.A. The Magnum Performance Gasket Line adds to Magnum’s wide range of coverage for domestic and import cars and trucks, including light duty and heavy duty diesels.

cam bearing tool

When you’re installing new cam bearings in an LS engine block, the first four (from back to front of the engine) are usually no problem. That’s because the block helps keep the cam bearing installation tool centered in the bearing bores. But when it comes to the front cam bearing, there is nothing to keep the installation tool centered in the bore. That means the chances of that bearing going in cockeyed are pretty high.
