“Garage Gurus,” Federal-Mogul Motorparts’ nationwide network training centers for professional technicians, repair shop owners and other automotive and commercial-vehicle service professionals, is coming to Houston. The network’s 11th regional training center, located at 14820 North Freeway, will open April 8 with a grand opening celebration for professionals from the region’s nearly 5,000 vehicle service businesses.

Established in 2015, Garage Gurus helps technicians and other vehicle service professionals keep pace with the latest technologies through more than 100 diagnostic and repair workshops and related technical support. The network’s ever-expanding curriculum is available onsite, at each regional training center; online via www.FMgaragegurus.com; on-demand through the award-winning Garage Gurus app for iOS and Android devices; and on the job via nearly 50 Web-connected “Gurus-On-The-Go” product technology vans that visit repair locations throughout the workday. Most training content is also available in Spanish.

“Garage Gurus is dramatically improving access to leading-edge technical training and business support for technicians, service writers, the owners of service businesses and the distributors who provide replacement parts and related supplies to local shops,” said Brent Berman, director, training and consumer experience, Federal-Mogul Motorparts. “We are pleased to be able to support the continued success of the thousands of vehicle service businesses located in and around Houston through world-class training.”

The 23,000-square-foot Houston training center features extensive classroom space as well as two service bays equipped with the latest diagnostic and repair equipment. In addition to the Houston facility, Garage Gurus operates comprehensive regional training centers in Atlanta; Baltimore; Boston; Bronx, N.Y.; Chicago; Dallas-Fort Worth; Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Rancho Dominguez, Calif.; St. Louis; and Van Nuys, Calif. A Detroit training center is scheduled to open later this year.

Garage Gurus is a central element of Federal-Mogul Motorparts’ “Tech First” initiative aimed at strengthening the motor vehicle service industry’s connection to the front-line professionals who service thousands of vehicles each day. In addition to offering technical training and other assistance, the network is designed to underscore the importance of using replacement parts engineered and manufactured to provide the quality, safety and performance customers need and expect.
