E.R.I. Group Names Scholarship Winners

The E.R.I. Group has announced this year’s winners of the Richard Miller Education Award. The award to provide financial assistance and encouragement to individuals who wish to further their education or training, has been presented to applicants from E.R.I. member companies for the past 17 years.

The E.R.I. Group has announced this year’s winners of the Richard Miller Education Award. The award to provide financial assistance and encouragement to individuals who wish to further their education or training, has been presented to applicants from E.R.I. member companies for the past 17 years.

The E.R.I. Group was incorporated in 1982 when, as the owner of an automotive machine shop in Toronto, Miller found it difficult to keep his parts costs down as compared with the larger production rebuilders in the area. Rick joined with three other owners of independent engine rebuilder shops to form a group dedicated to engine rebuilders. Thirty five years later, E.R.I. buying group in Canada, with a membership of over 263 members from coast to coast across Canada and 108 suppliers. Miller retired from the group earlier this year.

Ms. Ashton Aumen, Mr. Brendan Yong, Ms. Liz Nguyen-VanNoppen, Ms. Marie-Pier Bélanger and Ms. Erin Steeves were each presented with a $1,000 check to help further their education.

Ashton Aumen Munro of Duncan, British Columbia is attending her first year of a four-year Social Sciences program at the University of Victoria. Ashton will be studying to receive a Bachelors of Social Sciences where she hopes enter her chosen career as a Social Worker or Psychologist.

Liz Nguyen-VanNoppen

Brendan Yong of Edmonton, Alberta is enrolled in his third year in the Bachelor of Arts (Recreation, Sport and Tourism) (BARST) program at the University of Alberta. Brendan hopes to earn his degree to further his career.

Liz Nguyen-VanNoppen of Chesterville, Ontario is entering her first year of four at Carleton University in theBachelors program in the School of Social Work. Liz wants to pursue her dream of working as a Social Worker.

Marie-Pier Bélanger of Montréal, Québec is entering the fourth of seven years at the University of Québec in Montreal, majoring in Sociology. Marie-Pier’s goal is to pursue a career of teaching students with learning difficulties.

Erin Steeves of Shediac, New Brunswick is enrolled in her fourth year of the Biology program in the Science

Department at Mount Allison University. Erin goal is to achieve her goal of pursuing a career in Pediatric Dentistry.
