These Navistar International pistons from Mahle feature the redesigned bowl and lip design that includes an applied ceramic heat barrier coating on the piston crowns. This is not a modified Ford piston, nor an aftermarket coated piston – these are cast machined and ceramic/Teflon coated pistons built by Mahle in the factory.
The ceramic coating reduces the potential for piston cracking and forces the heat to be reflected into the combustion chamber to produce horsepower and torque instead of damaging the piston and the engine. Typically, this reduces EGTs and the load on the coolant system too.
These pistons are also skirt coated with a Mahle applied Teflon scuff coating to reduce cylinder wall cold start damage.
They are available now in .30˝ / 75mm size in sets of 8 only and include the ring sets as well.
