American Powertrain 1988-’98 Chevy/GMC C1500 Truck Transmission Kits

American Powertrain now fills in the gap of high performance manual transmission options for the Chevrolet C1500 series with their new 1988-98 Chevy/GMC (OBS) truck 5 and 6-speed kits.

American Powertrain now fills in the gap of high performance manual transmission options for the Chevrolet C1500 series with their new 1988-98 Chevy/GMC (OBS) truck 5 and 6-speed kits.

As with all American Powertrain kits, these systems feature the TREMEC TKO 5-speed and Magnum 6-speed coupled with all the parts needed to successfully install these transmissions with an excellent shift position for both bench and bucket seat applications. No modifications are required to the tunnel for 5 or 6-speed.

Both kits allow use of the stock crossmember with only a few holes to drill in the frame making installation a breeze. By using the stock crossmember and moving it down the frame also helps with LS engine swaps as well. Additionally, this kit can use the stock clutch master and pedal with adapter line to use American Powertrain’s Hydramax Hydraulic clutch sleeve. A Wilwood bolt-in master cylinder upgrade is also available. The kit also includes an electronic speedometer solution, VSS set-up for EFI, pilot bearing, weather-sealed reverse light wiring, complete seamless DOM driveshaft, shift knob, hardware and instructions.  If starting with an automatic or an empty chassis, American Powertrain can provide all the parts needed for a differential to block installation.

A Pro-Touring series upgrade is available on all kits with a balanced aluminum driveshaft and American Powertrain’s billet White Lightning shifter for maximum performance.  All transmissions are available with Xtreme upgrade to handle up to 1100 ft-lbs. of torque and high rpm shifting.

All ProFit kits are covered by American Powertrain’s 2-year warranty and their exclusive extended hours’ customer first tech support.  Complete kits start at around $3,495 and are available now.
