Diesel of the Week is presented by
Engine Builder has announced its 2020 Diesel of the Year winning engine – a triple turbo 6.8L Cummins – built by Josh McCormack of Power Driven Diesel in Cedar City, UT.
The 2020 Diesel of the Year contest, stems from Engine Builder’s Diesel of the Week series, sponsored by AMSOIL INC. This series began in 2019 as a way to showcase the increasing number of diesel performance engines being built. The Diesel of the Week profiles engine builders, their shops and a specific diesel engine build in detail.
Out of the 52 diesel engines profiled in 2020, Engine Builder’s readers and social media audience selected a Top 10 diesel engines worthy of being crowned Diesel of the Year. The 2020 Top 10 diesels were:
- 24-Valve Super Stock Super B Cummins, built by Haisley Machine in Fairmount, IN
- 3.0 Class 5.9L Common Rail Cummins, built by TMS Diesel in Weare, NH
- Supercharged Twin-Turbo 427 cid 7.1L Duramax, built by Banks Power in Azusa, CA
- 3.6 Smoothbore Charger 6.2L Cummins, built by Pro Tech Diesel in Glendive, MT
- Solid Block Triple Turbo 6.7L Cummins, built by Industrial Injection Diesel Performance in Salt Lake City, UT
- Triple Turbo 6.8L Cummins, built by Josh McCormack in Cedar City, UT
- Twin 5.9L Compound Turbo Cummins Engines, built by Plowboy Diesel in New Douglas, IL
- Compound Turbo 6.5L Cummins, built by Capital Diesel Performance in Windsor, CA
- Compound Turbo 6.4L Powerstroke, built by KG Diesel Performance in Homer, GA
- Compound Turbo LB7 Duramax, built by Diesel Day Dreams in Northglenn, CO
Those Top 10 diesels were pitted against one another in a two-week voting contest on Engine Builder’s website, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. After voting dust settled, Josh McCormack’s Triple Turbo 6.8L Cummins claimed the Diesel of the Year crown for 2020. For more details on the winning diesel, click here.
