Permatex and Dylan Hughes Chase the Motorcycle 200 mph Barrier and 2021 Formula Drift

Permatex has partnered with their Formula Drift team driver, Dylan Hughes, to take speed to the next level. In an exclusive online video series, Permatex will document Dylan’s journey as he challenges the 200-mph barrier at the 2021 Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials AMA Land Speed Grand Championship, set for August 28 – September 2, 2021.

The series, entitled “Permatex Flat Out 200,” will chronicle the entire effort, from initial bike design and build to the official runs at the Bonneville Salt Flats, on the Permatex YouTube channel. Fans can go to https://www.permatex.com/pxflatout200/ to watch Hughes’ entire journey and attempt.

Permatex will also sponsor Dylan Hughes and the #129 BMW in three events during the 2021 Formula Drift season. Permatex’s sponsorship represents a welcome return to Formula Drift. In 2019, Permatex was the Official Gasket Maker of Formula Drift and served as presenting sponsor during the first race of the season.

Permatex will be Hughes’ primary sponsor during Round 3: The Gauntlet in Englishtown, NJ June 18-19, 2021; Round 4: Borderlands in Erie, PA July 9-10, 2021; and Round 4: Throwdown in Monroe, WA July 30-31, 2021.

“Permatex is extremely excited to support Dylan in his pursuit of top end speed at Bonneville and Formula Drift,” added Ashley Khan, Permatex marketing manager. “The origins of Permatex can be found in the racing world, and we are thrilled that a new generation of enthusiasts are taking up that tradition and building on it. We can’t wait to see Dylan make his run!”

The relationship between Permatex and Hughes does not end on the track, as Hughes currently stars in several Permatex YouTube videos showcasing new products and proper application.

Dylan Hughes has been infatuated with tuner cars, speed, and drifting most of his life. He is embarking on his third season as a Pro-1 Formula Drift driver with the Dylan Hughes Racing team.

When he is not racing, Hughes uses his skills as a master fabricator, welder and on-camera talent building drift cars and project cars at the BlackOut Garage in Southern California. The talented, 29-year-old has earned roles in numerous YouTube and Automotive channel build videos, most recently with Motor Trend’s ‘Drift This’ series.

“My dad and I have always had a dream of making a run at over 200 mph at Bonneville, and thanks to Permatex, we’re getting the chance to make that a reality,” said Hughes. “This is a totally new experience for me, in terms of building a motorcycle designed for the kind of speed and conditions on the Salt Flats, so it’s really exciting that we get to share all of the ups and downs with my fans and fans of the Permatex brand.”
