MAHLE Motorsport Introduces 2022 Porsche Application Guide

MAHLE's Porsche application guide offers a complete listing of all Porsche specific piston applications.

MAHLE Motorsport introduces a new 2022 Application Guide for Porsche. The guide offers a complete listing of all Porsche specific piston kit offered applications and features a new Porsche 911 2.5L Short Stroke application on page three. The new application guide has been redesigned to be more user-friendly with sections of Water-Cooled and Air-Cooled listings subdivided into four groups based on engine size and application.

MAHLE’s Porsche pistons are machined from forgings with narrower and shorter skirts to reduce weight and friction and are dual coated with Phosphate and MAHLE’s proprietary GRAFAL® skirt coating to reduce drag, wear and noise. Piston kits are supplied with performance ring sets made from stronger, more durable materials that are designed to provide more consistent contact with the cylinders resulting in increased sealing and oil control.

The cylinders included in the air-cooled kits are machined to OE tolerances, designed to increase performance, durability and longevity. Some applications are available as either a slip-in or machine-in design. The slip-in cylinders are simply a larger internal bore replacement. The machine-in cylinders require the engine cases be machined to a larger bore diameter to accept their larger spigot diameter. The larger spigot diameter is preferable for extreme applications as with highly boosted turbo or competition use engines. The guide also includes final assembly instructions and ring gap recommendations.
