Aviaid on Configuring a Dry Sump Oil System

Dry sump oil systems provide many important benefits, such as the elimination of power-robbing windage, no loss of oil pressure from hard acceleration, braking or cornering, and reduced engine wear thanks to an ongoing supply of cool, clean lubricant.

Aviaid Oil Systems, the company credited with introducing dry sump lubrication technology to motorsports over 50 years ago, has produced an informative video that shows what’s involved in setting up a contemporary dry sump system. Included in the video is an animated section that illustrates the proper lubricant flow path and component functions.

Dry sump oil systems provide many important benefits, such as the elimination of power-robbing windage, no loss of oil pressure from hard acceleration, braking or cornering, and reduced engine wear thanks to an ongoing supply of cool, clean lubricant. Other benefits include a low profile pan that facilitates lower engine placement and added clearance for Restomod engine swaps and the ability to adjust oil pressure externally.

Complete dry sump oil system packages are available for Chevrolet LS and LT, small block and big block Chevy, Ford and Mopar, plus Modular Ford and Coyote engines. Additionally, they are available for most popular Sport Compact applications, as well as “universal” mounting kits that can adapt a dry sump pump to virtually any 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12-cylinder engine.
