Federal-Mogul Motorparts Receives NCMA Award for Data Excellence

Federal-Motor Motorparts, a division of Federal-Mogul Holdings Corporation, recently received the National Catalog Managers Association (NCMA) President’s Award for Electronic Data Excellence for the integration of the company’s FP Diesel product information into the NAPA Auto Parts PartsPRO II catalog.

The award was presented by NAPA during NCMA’s 2015 “Knowledge Exchange” conference in Orlando in April.

Federal-Mogul Motorparts received the President’s Award in recognition of its partnership in overcoming product data challenges unique to the commercial engine category. Replacement engine parts for commercial applications, including those used in trucks, industrial, marine and agricultural equipment, are referenced by product make, engine code and engine rather than the year/make/model format used for automotive applications.

“Displaying this commercial, industrial and agricultural data in any way other than by engine is virtually impossible,” said Brent Berman, director, training and consumer experience for Federal-Mogul Motorparts. “We worked with NAPA over the course of 18 months to map the information in an acceptable format for searches within NAPA PartsPRO II, and completed the detailed validation process. With that complete, we now are able to send any ‘non-conforming’ data, such as marine, performance and assortments, into the NAPA PartsPRO II system.”

The integration of FP Diesel product data enables NAPA distributors to expand its customer base to repair shops and service centers that work on medium- and heavy-duty vehicles.
