Prestolite Performance Announces Modern Muscle X Challenge Winner

Prestolite Performance wrapped up the Modern Muscle X campaign, awarding Robert Fortin of Florida $10,000 as the winner of the Modern Muscle X Challenge, which was held on Aug. 27, 2011, in Milan, Mich.

Partnering with the National Muscle Car Association (NMCA), auto parts manufacturer Prestolite Performance hosted the Modern Muscle X Challenge at the Muscle Car Nationals at the Milan Dragway.

Part of the Challenge included the semi-final competition where the fastest Chevrolet, Dodge and Ford with the best three-run average won $1,000. Fortin had the fastest Ford of the group with his 2005 Ford Mustang at 8.82 seconds. Canadian Shawn Hibbs took the title of the fastest Dodge, coming in at 13.52 seconds with his 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT-8. Mark Carlyle of Ohio and his 2010 Chevrolet Camaro took the third semi-finalist slot with 12.29 seconds.

Semi-finalists Fortin and Carlyle then went head-to-head in the $10,000 Shootout. With 8.9 seconds at 156 mph, Fortin earned the honor of the Modern Muscle X Challenge champion.

“We want to thank everyone for participating in the Challenge,” said Scott Stutler, brand manager for Modern Muscle X. “This event provided a unique opportunity for us to see our customers really put our products to the test.”

To qualify for the Challenge, entrants registered their late model Dodge LX platform (Challenger, Charger or 300), Ford Mustang or Chevrolet Camaro enhanced with auto parts from Prestolite Performance’s family of brands. More than 250 people – across the country and internationally – submitted entries for their cars, including Robert Fortin.
