Speed-Pro Crowns Performance Engine Builder of the Year

Tom Nickerson, owner of NVR Racing, in Butler, WI, was named the 2014 Performance Engine Builder of the Year, sponsored by Speed-Pro POWERFORGED Pistons and Engine Builder magazine. Nickerson was presented the award by Engine Builder magazine publisher Doug Kaufman at a press conference Friday at the Performance Racing Industry Show (PRI) in Indianapolis.

IMG_0696Tom Nickerson, owner of NVR Racing, in Butler, WI, was named the 2014 Performance Engine Builder of the Year, sponsored by Speed-Pro POWERFORGED Pistons and Engine Builder magazine. This is the third year for the Performance Engine Builder of the Year Award.

Nickerson was presented the award by Engine Builder magazine publisher Doug Kaufman at a press conference Friday at the Performance Racing Industry Show (PRI) in Indianapolis.

NVR is a race-oriented engine shop that builds mostly circle track and drag vehicle engines. With more than 40 years in the industry, Nickerson works with his wife Cindy handling mostly Chevrolet builds, as well as other nameplate engines, with the occasional Ferrari job.

A feature on NVR Racing will be presented in the March High-Performance Buyers Guide issue of Engine Builder magazine.

The two finalists in this year’s competition were:

Second-place: Kenny Duttweiler, Duttweiler Performance, Saticoy, CA; and

Third-Place: Bruce Hogue, Hogue Engines, Akron, IN.

As winner, Nickerson received $1,000, an Apple iPad and a recognition wall plaque, as well as three nights lodging during this year’s PRI Show, as well as four Speed-Pro POWERFORGED Piston counter stools, custom Speed-Pro POWERFORGED Piston jackets for all shop employees, mechanics’ gloves for all shop employees, special customer marketing packs with Speed-Pro branded promotional giveaway items for his customers and a product voucher for $2,500 worth of Speed-Pro POWERFORGED Pistons.

Prizes also were distributed to the two finalists including:

  • Recognition plaque
  • A Kindle Fire
  • Special Customer Marketing Packs from Speed-Pro
  • Mechanics’ Gloves for all shop employees;
and
  • A product voucher for $1,500 worth of Speed-Pro POWERFORGED Pistons
