In a continuing effort to foster student interest in manufacturing and engineering, Rockford Systems, LLC has announced it is sponsoring an educational visit for local high school students to FABTECH, North America’s largest metal forming, fabricating, welding and finishing event, scheduled for November 6-9, 2017, in Chicago’s McCormick Place. Students from EMMIT (Engineering, Manufacturing, Industrial and Trades Technology) Academies at RPS205 Jefferson, East and Guilford high schools will travel by bus to the show, along with receiving free expo passes, lunches and a special T-shirt commemorating the event.

Rockford Systems will be exhibiting for its second year at FABTECH. The booth (#A5386) will highlight the machine safeguarding leader’s newest products and services for fabricators seeking to reduce workplace accidents, improve job efficiencies, and help ensure compliance with the latest OSHA, ANSI and NFPA 79 machine-guarding standards. Visitors to Rockford Systems’ booth will receive a free OSHA Guard Opening Scale and Bench Grinder Safety Gauge, a combined value of $50.

In addition, Rockford Systems’ Director of Training, Roger Harrison, will be a featured speaker at FABTECH on the topic of Machine Modernization and Safeguarding. The session is set for Tuesday, November 7 in Room 503A, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. Mr. Harrison will address safeguarding for metalworking machines from the perspective of ANSI B11.19. Basic principles for machine assessments will also be discussed.

“Our high level of participation at FABTECH this year represents our strong commitment to improving the safety of metal fabricators, and to encouraging the future leaders of the industry,” said Carrie Halle, vice president of marketing for Rockford Systems. “We are thrilled to bring high school students to FABTECH so they can see firsthand the state-of-the-art technologies used in today’s manufacturing and discuss the processes with the highly skilled professionals. The U.S. manufacturing sector supports more than 18.5 million jobs. The opportunities in today’s manufacturing environment are exciting and varied, offering a wide choice of interesting challenges to students just entering the workforce.”
