Motortrend’s Hot Rod Drag Week Prepares for 18th Annual Event

Four cities, five days, 1,000+ miles to crown the fastest car in America. Hot Rod Drag Week returns September 18.

The race to determine the title of “Fastest Street Car in America” is back as eBay Motors Powers HOT ROD Drag Week Presented by Gear Vendors Overdrive returns to premier tracks in four Midwest cities Sunday, Sept. 18 through Friday, Sept. 23, 2022.

The world’s toughest competition to find the ultimate street-legal drag car, HOT ROD Drag Week puts competitors to a grueling test over five days of action-packed drag racing, requiring racers to drive their vehicles on a specified route from city to city, upward of 1,000 miles, while securing the quickest possible elapsed time across the five days. During the competition, drivers provide photographic evidence to prove they have adhered to the prescribed route. Some of the nation’s top racers participate in Drag Week each year, and it’s not uncommon for competitors to band together to help each other get through the week.

“HOT ROD Drag Week started back in 2005 and I can honestly say each year of this one-of-a-kind event is better than the last,” said HOT ROD’s Editor-in-Chief John McGann. “Not just for ‘Gear Heads,’ Drag Week is a sight to see for all levels of car enthusiasts. Don’t miss the excitement that year 18 is sure to bring!”
