Drag-N-Drive World Champion Announced for 2023

Drag-N-Drive Addiction awards the inaugural Drag-N-Drive World Champion presented by Summit Racing.

The drag-and-drive community celebrates a milestone as Summit Racing will present the inaugural Drag-N-Drive World Champion at PRI 2023. Collaborating with Summit Racing and multiple racers, Drag-N-Drive Addiction introduced a Points Series for 2023, marking a groundbreaking achievement for the sport.

Racers earned points based on racing days, podium finishes, and average ET, with additional bonuses for record-breaking performances. Eligible events had to meet specific criteria, ensuring rigorous competition and widespread participation.

In the 2023 season, 13 qualifying events witnessed over 2,000 unique racers vying for the Drag-N-Drive World Champion title. Notably, 58 racers engaged in three or more events.

The top performers, concluding the season with over 100 points, are as follows:

  • #6: Aaron Shaffer (100 Points)
  • #5: Graham Hayes (101 Points)
  • #4: Rich Guido (102 Points)

Impressively, nine racers achieved scores between 90 and 100 points, including Walter Doyle, Ben Neal, Clark Rosenstengel, Evan Uerkwitz, Brian Acton, Cameron Thorpe, Bobby Admire, Joshua Norris Sr. and Rob Courtney.

The top 3 podium placements spotlight exceptional feats:

  • Corey Thompson secured third place, amassing 110 points with victories across three events, setting records in the process.
  • Ryan Hargett’s strategic entries and outstanding performances positioned him in second place, reaching a remarkable 110 points despite the challenges faced.

Claiming the prestigious title of the first-ever Drag-N-Drive World Champion is Bryant Goldstone, a stalwart competitor since 2011. His relentless pursuit of excellence culminated in a triumphant season, overcoming adversities and dominating multiple classes.

Goldstone’s remarkable achievements include resetting records, securing class wins, and consistently delivering 6-second averages. His total of 114 points and unwavering determination propelled him to this historic championship, piloting a 1973 AMC Javelin alongside co-pilots Rob Sanders and Brian Robbins.

Lonnie Tibbs hailed Bryant Goldstone saying, “If you look up the meaning of goldstone in the dictionary it will give insight to what kind of person Bryant is. And, if you look at how long Bryant has been doing drag and drive, and doing it at a high level, it was only a matter of time to see him make his way to the top of the mountain.”

Summit Racing, Drag-N-Drive Addiction, and all involved extend heartfelt gratitude to the community and sponsors whose support made this groundbreaking championship possible. The Drag-N-Drive World Championship heralds a new era, celebrating skill, perseverance, and the thrilling spirit of the drag-and-drive community.

Drag-N-Drive Addiction will host the Inaugural Drag-N-Drive Awards presented by Summit Racing on December 7th at 11am in Room ICC 209 at PRI 2023.
