Circle D Specialties Acquires Reid Racing

Circle D Specialties, a manufacturer of high-performance torque converters and driveline components for the automotive aftermarket, has announced the acquisition of Reid Racing, a manufacturer of performance transmission cases and specialty heavy-duty axle components for off-road vehicles. This strategic acquisition expands Circle D Specialties’ product portfolio and positions the company as a comprehensive provider of performance solutions for enthusiasts and racers alike.

“We are beyond excited for the new journey for Circle D, Reid Racing was a name that I have always admired and respected throughout my automotive career,” says Chris Sehorn, CEO of Circle D Specialties. “The Reid’s have built an amazing business with exceptional products that the fastest cars in the world rely on. My father coined the name Circle D Specialties rather than Circle D Converters with the goal to one day diversify into other avenues of racing – this transaction is a step in that direction as we take our first leap outside of the converter world. We see this acquisition as a perfect fit, as we look forward to building upon the top-notch level of support and the standard of quality that both companies were founded on. Two brands, one finish line.”

Reid was founded by Dennis and Debra Reid through a corporate spin-off from another company the couple had founded, Dedenbear Products, Inc. The Reid’s started Dedenbear in 1979. Reid Racing’s products, such as transmission cases, bellhousings, steering knuckles, etc., have grown to be widely used in racing disciplines, including drag racing, off-road racing, and circle track racing. The company positions itself in the market place as offering a premium product at a premium price.

“This acquisition is a natural fit between two of the transmission industry’s leading companies,” says Dennis Reid, founder of Reid Racing Inc. “Circle D Specialties has had phenomenal growth and is extremely quality conscious, while Reid Racing is the gold standard in aftermarket transmission cases. This portrays a bright future for the combined companies. I would like to express my gratitude for all the hard work and dedication that our employees and partners have put into building Reid Racing into the company that it is. I have no doubt that Reid Racing is in good hands at Circle D Specialties and look forward to an exciting future. I will be staying on as a consultant for a period of time to help ensure a smooth transition between the two companies.”

With the acquisition of Reid Racing, Circle D Specialties now offers a comprehensive range of performance products for both the drivetrain and undercarriage, providing enthusiasts and racers with a single source for performance transmission needs. The company is committed to continuing the legacy of both brands and providing customers with the highest level of quality, innovation, and performance.

Over the next several months, Circle D will be transitioning and consolidating Reid’s Concord, CA operations into their existing 58,000 sq.-ft. facility in Houston, TX. The Spartan Group acted as exclusive financial advisors to Reid Racing on the transaction.
