Following the announcement of its beta version at the 2014 SEMA Show, RxSpeed.com has completed its usability testing and released its latest version for general availability. The company plans several more updates heading into the spring of 2015.

Aimed at saving consumers time during their research and purchase process, RxSpeed is designed to aggregate automotive parts and retailers using its proprietary software platform.

“From travel and airfare to consumer electronics, there are one-stop-shop solutions for almost every industry with the exception of automotive,” said Michael Chapin, CEO and co-founder of RxSpeed. “With more than 25 million consumers in the United States visiting five or more websites before making a purchase, we saw the need for a user-friendly experience to expedite this process while finding the best deal available.”

RxSpeed is built on big data, taking in millions of records every week from a variety of brand sources, then organizing that data by linking the correct vehicle-fitment databases and part-category databases. The end result is an easy-to-use search engine that links shoppers to parts for their year, make and model vehicles, providing a list of retailers selling those products. RxSpeed currently features 470 different brands representing more than 1 million parts with 27 million vehicle applications to search in its database.

In addition, RxSpeed has also begun to create unique editorial content, featuring modified cars as topics of interest to all types of automotive enthusiasts, from the average consumer to the most dedicated “car guy/girl.” The custom-built, interactive platform – dubbed “The Lab” – showcases enthusiasts’ projects with clickable photographs, allowing consumers to discover new products with one-click access to a parts company’s entire product catalog.

“We want to take the rich experience of walking around a car in person and bring that online in a state-of-the-art format for every device,” said Michael Crenshaw, former editor of 0-60 & RIDES magazine, who was hired by RxSpeed early on to conceptualize and design content in the Lab. “It’s our vision of what a car magazine should be online – yes, your typical artistic photos, but more in-depth, full-screen HD shots documenting every aspect of the car.”

The company plans to continue growing its database and release new features throughout the year to improve the overall functionality. “We’ve received nothing but positive feedback from consumers, brands and retailers alike,” noted Chapin, having recently returned from an industry conference hosted by the Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA). “The software platform and website will continue to evolve. We have lots of ideas, but our focus will always remain on making the user experience as efficient and engaging as possible.”
