The fifth anniversary edition of the Champion brand’s popular “Search for a Champion” racing sponsorship contest will award a record $200,000 in cash and prizes to more grassroots racers than ever, including beginners of all ages in virtually every form of engine-driven competition. The annual contest is sponsored by Federal-Mogul Motorparts, a division of Federal-Mogul Holdings Corporation and exclusive global marketer of Champion spark plugs, filters, wipers and performance chemical additives.

The 2016 contest, which opens for entries Nov. 2, 2015, will once again enable racers to compete for sponsorship cash and other prizes from the iconic Champion brand. Entrants are then organized by the type of racing surface: Asphalt, Dirt or Water/Snow. Racers can enter the free contest at www.AlwaysAChampion.com.

Federal-Mogul Motorparts will award 40 sponsorships – 15 $5,000 racing sponsorships to Advanced racers and 25 $1,000 sponsorships to Amateur racers. The winners will move on to compete for a $50,000 grand prize sponsorship in the Advanced category and a $10,000 grand prize sponsorship in the Amateur category for the 2016 season.

“Champion has been powering winners of virtually all ages and in all types of engine-driven racing for more than a century. We’re reinforcing this unique multi-generational connection by expanding sponsorship opportunities across every age group,” said Jessica Wynn, global director, digital marketing and strategy, Federal-Mogul Motorparts. “There’s no age limit to become a member of #TeamChampion, and we’re excited to invite beginning racers to share with us their passion for competition.”

“It has been an absolute honor representing Champion Spark Plugs and Federal-Mogul Motorparts this season,” added Carly Jo Ellingson, 2015 “Search for A Champion” Grand Prize winner.  “I am so thankful for the opportunity they have given me as a driver. ‘Search for a Champion’ changed my life, and it is a privilege having the support of so many crew members, racers, car fanatics and champions.”

To enter the contest, entrants in the Advanced category simply must visit www.AlwaysAChampion.com and submit photos, a 300-word essay and a two-minute video describing why they deserve to become a #TeamChampion driver. Participants in the Amateur category are required to submit photos and the 300-word essay (video is optional). In addition to yearlong sponsorships, the 40 winners from the two categories will receive attractive Champion gear and the brand’s latest products and will be entered into the contest for the grand prize sponsorship packages.
