Mayhew Tools Sponsorships NASCAR’s Whelen Modified Tour Pole Award

Mayhew Steel Products, Inc. announced its sponsorship of the Whelen Modified Tour’s Pole Award for the 2019 season, which begins on Saturday, March 16 at Myrtle Beach Speedway in South Carolina.

Mayhew Steel Products, Inc. announced its sponsorship of the Whelen Modified Tour’s Pole Award for the 2019 season, which begins on Saturday, March 16 at Myrtle Beach Speedway in South Carolina. New this year, sponsorship of the award will not only shine a light on the driver who crosses the finish line first, but the winning crew chief will be recognized and awarded one of Mayhew’s newest heavy-duty curved pry bars, dubbed ‘The Big Stick’.

The Big Stick, part of Mayhew Tools’ Dominator product line, is the heaviest pry bar Mayhew has manufactured to-date. Thirteen pounds, 54” in length, and comprised of 7/8” chrome-vanadium steel, The Big Stick is designed to withstand tremendous force making it ideal for any lifting, prying, or moving applications.

In recent years, Mayhew Tools has leveraged racing sponsorships as a key component to their marketing strategy, helping them get their brand and tools in front of those immersed in the racing industry, including drivers, their teams, and the fans. Bestowing The Big Stick to each winning crew chief enables the premium hand tool manufacturer to quite literally get their tools into the hands of those actually using them on a regular basis.

“Sponsorship of the Pole Award helps us preserve the brand awareness we have established in the racing community over the last few years while simultaneously giving us the opportunity to make a greater and more deliberate impact where our tools are concerned,” commented John Lawless, president, Mayhew Tools. “As part of the sponsorship, we will give each pole winning crew chief one of our new Big Sticks at the conclusion of each race. The crew chiefs are the ones turning wrenches and hustling behind the scenes to get their team’s driver across the finish line first, so this will not only help recognize them for their efforts, but also offer us the opportunity to seed our tools into the hands of some of our end users.”

The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour will consist of 17 races in the 2019 season, of which Mayhew will once again serve as sponsor to #2 car driven by five-time champion Doug Coby for the third year in a row. The company will also sponsor Bobby Santos III in the United States Auto Club (USAC) Silver Crown Series and King of the Wing National Sprint Car Series as well as Shootout Productions’ Truck Pulling Series.
