NGK Spark Plugs Receives Aftermarket Award

NGK Spark Plugs has been named the brand with the highest increase in U.S. market share in the maintenance and repair super category as part of The NPD Group’s 2020 Automotive Aftermarket Performance Awards.

The NPD Group’s automotive aftermarket division announced its second annual industry performance awards on November 3, 2020. Awards were given to top performing brands in key super categories, according to dollar sales from NPD’s Retail Tracking Service.

“NGK is honored to be recognized for our market performance in the maintenance and repair super category,” stated Brian Norko – NGK senior vp – commercial business operations. “The strength of our brands, coupled with the ability of our organization to deliver world-class products to meet customer needs, continues to support our growth and market share gains.”

“This year has taken the idea of fast-paced change to another level, and despite early concerns, the automotive aftermarket has found significant silver linings in the midst of the pandemic. The consumer is seeking out these products with both a new and renewed perspective, and it is exciting to recognize the companies who led the way in delivering on an unexpected level of demand,” said Steve Flavin, president, automotive aftermarket practice, The NPD Group. “At the close of an unprecedented year, and start of a new kind of AAPEX show, we wish the winners, and the marketplace as a whole, continued success for the remainder of the year and into 2021.”
