Speedway Motors Announces Promotions

Speedway Motors, a manufacturer, retailer and distributor of high-quality automotive parts and racing products, announced three recent promotions within the company.   

“As a 70-year retailer, manufacturer and distributor of automotive parts,” said Chris Chance, Vice President of Speedway Motors, “we truly understand the stamp of quality. As we’ve continued to grow, we know that our success comes from our high-caliber employees. They are the reason our customers keep coming back year after year, project after project. We’re thrilled to announce these promotions and celebrate the hard work of these three incredible women.”    

Betsy Grindlay has been promoted to Vice President of People, Purchasing & Marketing at Speedway Motors. Grindlay holds a bachelor’s degree in finance and marketing from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her background includes a role at First National Bank of Omaha as a Management Trainee, then working for FNBO Direct as an Online Marketing Advisor. In her time at Speedway Motors, she has progressively advanced through the company from Ecommerce/Web Content Manager to Brand Marketing Manager and Director of Marketing & People Operations. “Under her leadership, Betsy has successfully led a rebranding effort and a culture shift for the company,” Chance said. “We’re thrilled for her to continue to grow her area of responsibility, taking on our Purchasing team going forward.”  

Melissa Ward has been promoted to Director of Marketing. Ward holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska—Omaha, and has held leadership and branding positions in the marketing industry for 17 years. Prior to joining the Speedway Motors team in 2018 as Creative Director, she led the design team at Firespring, a Lincoln-area marketing agency with notable clients across the nation, and has held marketing positions for a number of Nebraska businesses including American Enterprise, DTN and Nebraska Book Company, Inc. As Director of Marketing, she will oversee all marketing efforts for Speedway Motors from research and planning to execution and analysis. “Melissa has a keen marketing instinct and a passion for our customers,” Chance said. “We’ve already benefited from her strategic development of the Speedway Motors brand and know she will remain a fierce advocate for our customers’ experience while bringing them exciting new programs in 2023.” 

Erin Bond has been promoted to Director of People Operations. Bond earned a bachelor’s degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University. Prior to joining the Speedway Motors team in 2020 she worked for the State of Nebraska for seven years taking on various roles and advancing through their Human Resources department. “Erin has all the accreditations a good HR function leader needs. SHRM-CP certification, she’s a part of LHRMA (Lincoln Human Resources Management Association).” Chance continued, “But she adds the soft skills that make her so admired by our employees. Not to mention, she’s great at representing us in the community with her board work for the State of Nebraska and at UNL on their HRM & Strategic Leadership board.”
