STARS National Series Announces Director of Race Operations

Track Enterprises President Bob Sargent has announced veteran racing official Joe Balash as the director of Race Operations for the new STARS National Series in 2023.

Balash first sprang onto the national scene with American Speed Association (ASA) in the late 1990s. He later served as the NASCAR Busch and Nationwide Series Director from 2004–2012. Following, Balash was appointed as the international competition liaison, overseeing NASCAR’s interests in motorsports in Mexico, Canada, and Europe.

“Joe’s been with Track Enterprises for some time now, and his experience with both ASA and NASCAR position him as the right person to lead our efforts regarding competition and technical inspection,” Sargent said.

Balash will be responsible for all aspects of competition and operations for the pavement Super Late Model series. In addition, he will also oversee the rules packages, inspection process, and race procedures for other Track Enterprises organizations, including the ARCA/CRA Super Series, ARCA Midwest Tour, and Southern Super Series.

Balash will make his first appearance with STARS during the Snowball Derby (Dec. 1–4) at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida.

In addition, officials plan to release the rule books for the four series’ (STARS National Series, ARCA Midwest Tour, ARCA/CRA Super Series, and Southern Super Series) at the PRI Trade Show in Indianapolis, Indiana, December 8–10.
