JASPER Offers Remanufactured Turbochargers

BW TurboJasper Engines & Transmissions, the nation’s leader in remanufactured drivetrain products, is offering a line of remanufactured Borg Warner, Garrett and Holset turbochargers.

JASPER has over 100 different stock numbers on hand, including turbos for popular diesel units such as the Ford/International 6.0L, 7.3L Powerstroke, Cummins ISB and Caterpillar engines.

“We wanted to control our own destiny regarding the quality of the product,” said Ryan Dooley, JASPER Turbo and Fuel Division Manager.  “For years, we’ve relied on several suppliers for our turbo needs.  We value those relationships, but if we wanted to take our product to the next level, we had to get in the driver’s seat and bring the entire process in-house.”

JASPER’s turbo remanufacturing process includes the complete disassembly of the housings, which are then oven-baked to over 700 degrees Fahrenheit to remove soot and debris from the casting.   Each of the internal components is meticulously inspected and then balanced to ensure proper tolerances.  The entire center section is re-assembled and a high-speed core balancer is used to balance the entire rotating assembly at speeds in excess of 70,000 rpms.

“When a center section spins at 80,000-120,000 rpm, bearing housing journal finish is essential,” said Dooley.  “With our years of experience in engine remanufacturing, both in cylinder walls and deck finishes, JASPER polishes bearing housing journals to a finish of 35 RA or less, which will meet or exceed any industry standard.”

A JASPER remanufactured turbocharger is covered by a one-year parts and labor warranty with no mileage restrictions.
