Kistler Mobile Engine Indication System KiBox Cockpit V2.1

Kistler is launching its KiBox Cockpit V2.1 – a comprehensive software update for the Kistler KiBox indication system. Kistler's KiBox delivers detailed information about the quality of combustion in each individual cylinder, with all the relevant key data for engine development available in real time.

934-998Kistler is launching its KiBox Cockpit V2.1 – a comprehensive software update for the Kistler KiBox indication system. Kistler’s KiBox delivers detailed information about the quality of combustion in each individual cylinder, with all the relevant key data for engine development available in real time.

Software update V2.1 means that the system can now be used directly on engine test benches, as well for mobile applications in vehicles on the road. Additional new features also broaden the scope of use for KiBox: new calculation options, added virtual channels and valuable expert functions. Developed in close collaboration with customers, this software can now be downloaded free of charge from Kistler’s website.

Kistler’s KiBox is now fully usable on test benches with the update to version 2.1. A universal test bench interface including IndiCom DCOM means that it can be integrated into commonly used automation systems such as Morphee, PUMA Open and Stars. This makes it possible not only to control the combustion analysis system but also to measure output to the automation system, opening up a host of potential applications for users.

Extended Hardware Compatibility KiBox Cockpit V2.1 supports accurate determination of the Top Dead Center (TDC) with the help of a capacitive TDC probe. This is an extremely useful feature, especially for high-precision test bench measurements. Another benefit of the new software: Kistler’s new type 4665B piezoresistive amplifier with automatic sensor identification (PiezoSmart) and analog sensor temperature output is now supported as well. This marks a further logical advance in the concept for shared use of Kistler’s SCP (Signal Conditioning Platform) components.

The new software introduces virtual channels to increase the number of available channels. Multiplexed ignition or injection signals from several cylinders can now be connected to one current probe input, so ignition or injection timing calculations can be performed for all cylinders. Several new features make the Kistler KiBox more efficient, more precise and more convenient for users: new calculation methods and calculations such as ‘indicated torque’, a general statistics package and additional expert functions for data display and analysis.

The Kistler KiBox operates with the vehicle’s own crank angle sensor, and it also supports simple integration into ETAS INCA, VECTOR CAN and ATI VISION; alternatively, results can also be outputted via a CAN port or a remote API interface.
