Engine Builder Hall of Fame Names Inaugural Class

The racing industry was built by talented, innovative and creative innovators, driven to achieve faster, quicker, higher performing engines. To show appreciation and support to the pioneers and those continuing to push engines further than they’ve gone before, the Engine Builder Hall of Fame has been established.

The Engine Builder Hall of Fame mission statement is, “To recognize and memorialize the individuals that played a significant role in the development of internal combustion engines for competition. From the origins of hot rodding to all forms of motorized competition, the Engine Builder Hall of Fame enshrines those who innovated, achieved and advanced the internal combustion engine in competition.”

Eight legends will be inducted into the Engine Builder Hall of Fame each year. The motorsports community will be encouraged to log onto the website to nominate deserving men and women who have made a difference. The selections will be chosen by the Hall of Fame Executive Committee, which includes Ben Strader of EFI University, Billy Godbold of Godbold Engineering, Jeff Smith of Car Craft magazine, John Callies currently with Morel Lifters, Lake Speed Jr. of Total Seal Piston Rings, Ron Shaver of Shaver Racing Engines, and Paul “Scooter” Brothers of Driven Racing Oil and COMP Cams.

The evaluation process for nominees will be separated into four eras – Pre WW-II, Post WW-II, 60s-70s, and 80s-90s. Everyone involved in the Engine Builder Hall of Fame welcomes comments and discussion about who should be enshrined. The primary criteria is how much the “Art of Engine Building” was enhanced by their involvement and how many people they mentored and inspired.

The inaugural 2024 class of Engine Builder Hall of Famers includes: Bob Glidden, Holman-Moody, Vic Edelbrock, Ed Winfield, John Lingenfelter, Ed Pink, Ed Iskenderian, and Harry Miller.

The Engine Builder Hall of Fame is sponsored by Edelbrock Performance, ICON Forged Pistons, Total Seal Piston Rings, and COMP Cams.
