The last thing that comes to mind when thinking of a Lamborghini is a diesel engine, but that apparently wasn’t the case for the guys at 1 Way Diesel Performance…
If you’ve ever seen a properly built “Bandit-style” Trans Am, it’s likely one of your favorite cars. Our whole crew was jealous of Nick Weigand at this year’s Sick Week, as Nick showed up in Florida with a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am that was just built beautifully, and featured a twin-turbo 461 cubic inch Pontiac engine under the wing-adorned hood.
During Sick Week this year, there were more cool cars than we could count. However, few stood out as much as Nick Wiegand’s 1977 Pontiac Trans Am featuring a twin-turbo 461 cubic inch Pontiac engine. We caught up with Nick at Bradenton Motorsports Park to get the full story of the build.
When you look at a Volvo wagon, all sorts of things come to mind, but running quarter-mile passes of any speed usually isn’t one of them. However, Mikael Borggren’s 1987 Volvo with a turbocharged 388 cid LS engine capable of 6-second passes is definitely a sight to see! Read up about all the engine details!
Just like his fellow Swede’s Stefan Gustafsson and Michael Westberg, Mikael Borggren got into the drag-and-drive scene a few years ago. He picked up this 1987 Volvo wagon in 2017 as a road car, but soon found himself upgrading and evolving it to the point it can make mid-6-second quarter-mile passes! That’s thanks to a
Leave it to Jared Alderson and the guys at Kill Devil Diesel to build a kickass Powerstroke engine! This competition-level, billet aluminum 6.0L will be going under the hood of KC Turbo’s truck for the upcoming race season. Check it out!
These days, a 200+ mph pass at a drag-and-drive event like Sick Week, is commonplace. However, it’s not every race you watch a competitor’s doors literally get blown off. Stefan Gustafsson did just that while running a PR of 6.43 at 218 mph thanks to his C4 Corvette and its turbocharged 540 cid big block Chevy engine. See what’s in this 2,100+ horsepower engine!
We didn’t get the opportunity to speak with Stefan Gustafsson during the 2022 edition of Sick Week, and after he won the whole event that year, we knew we couldn’t attend the 2023 event and not talk to him this time. We got the chance to speak to Stefan about his C4 Corvette and its
Michael Westberg, who hails from Sweden, has been racing here in the U.S. recently and he’s been a force to be reckoned with at drag-and-drive events. His Chevy S10 pickup truck features a twin-turbo 400 cubic inch LS engine built by ACE Racing Engines, and the engine just propelled Michael to a Sick Week victory
D&J Precision Machine’s Enforcer Cummins engine has been around for a while now, but every time we see an Enforcer build, it remains impressive. This particular Enforcer was outfitted with compound turbos and all sorts of engine component goodies to the tune of 2,000+ horsepower. It’s our Diesel of the Week brought to you by AMSOIL
Proof that cars from the ’70s were awesome is Steve Groenink’s 1973 Toyota Celica. Saved from a farmer’s field, this Celica features a turbocharged 388 cid LS engine capable of 6-second passes. Check it out!
As day one of Sick Week 2023 came to a close at Orlando Speed World, we passed by the pit area of Steve Groenink. We did a double take of his 1973 Toyota Celica, which features a turbocharged 388 cubic inch LS engine. The 6-second capable build is our Engine of the Week!
