Have You Ever Had a Fantasy?

Be watching in mid-March for the launch of the 2019 Engine Builder Fantasy Engine Build. You will be able to pick from several build platforms (domestic performance, performance diesel and import) and then from over a dozen different product/parts categories to build your dream motor.

Have you ever had a fantasy? I know what you are thinking. What on earth is the word fantasy doing in a business-to-business publication based on engine building? Well that is precisely why I put it in here.

Our business is, on a day-to-day basis, fairly routine. Depending on what part of the industry you are in, you are machining, measuring and assembling on a fairly regular and routine basis. It takes attention to detail and lot of knowledge and research to get it done correctly. Especially if you are concerned with profit and the future of your business.

All of that is very important and most of the time those are exactly the kind of details I am also dealing with on a daily basis. But for just once, wouldn’t it be fun or a mental vacation to just dream about something you really enjoy doing? No regard for what it might cost or if it was even possible. What could you really accomplish if all the barriers to trying were removed?

Well, we here at Engine Builder are going to give people in this space a way to do just that. Shortly, we will be introducing our 2019 Fantasy Engine Build contest. Lots of folks would love to be able to spec out a motor and just see what all is out there for building up a dream engine. To start, our contest will be pure fun. Down the road, we plan on getting it highly refined and more real life. But for now, it is designed to have fun with and give the dreamers better familiarity with components, who manufactures those components and information on products in each category.

I’ve actually lost track of how long it’s been since people started claiming print was dead. It’s been a while! Now, I understand the ‘print is dead’ claim might be different for newspapers than it is for magazines, but I can tell you this – the content landscape has certainly been shifting.
