Melling OEM replacement water pumps are now in stock and ready. These are not your average OEM replacements.

#1. The Bearing. Melling’s bearing has double lip seals made from HNBR rubber. This provides a few benefits. The double lip seal prevents vapor intrusion from the mechanical seal operation and prevents external elements from intruding into the bearing mechanism. The HNBR material was selected for its protection against degradation of the seal lip surfaces that can occur due to elevated temperatures created from high engine operating RPM.

#2. The Mechanical Seal. The mechanical seal chosen for Melling’s water pumps utilize silicon carbide (ceramic) and hard carbon material in the contact rings. Both silicon carbide and hard carbon were selected for their long-term durability as well as their ability to work in severe temperatures. During engine warm-up in the winter, the mechanical seal is subjected to thermal shocks every time the thermostat opens and extremely cold coolant enters the system.

#3. The Gasket. The gasket that is mounted between the water pump and engine block uses EPDM rubber as a sealing surface. This is the best material available for the temperature range and constant contact with coolant. This material is also the OEM choice for water pump gasket applications.
