Sometimes you need a part that’s better than average, but not as fancy as a full-race one. That’s what Howards Cams Track Smart Connecting Rods are. Designed for serious street and sportsman race engines, the H-beam rods are forged and CNC-machined from certified 4340 high tensile steel. They are heat-treated using a special process to ensure strength and reliability, then fully stress-relieved and shot peened to ensure no stress risers remain.
Howards Cams realized a common failure most forged rods suffer from is weak rod bolts. They fitted the Track Smart rods with 7/16″ ARP 2000 cap screws – the same type used in Howards’ Ultra Duty billet steel rods – to solve that problem. Other features include:
• Profiled for long stroke applications
• Double ribbed caps for greater rod bearing support
• Rod cap alignment dowels keep bearing caps precisely aligned
• Bronze bushing for floating wrist pins

• Small Chevy, 5.400″, 6.000″, 6.200″, and 6.250″ lengths
• Big Chevy, 6.385″, 6.535″, and 6.700″ lengths
