Metrology-industry veteran Barry Rogers has been appointed director of marketing and business development for Sunnen Products Company, a manufacturer of automated technology for finish bore machining.
"Barry has a significant track record in initiating and managing successful technology launches in the metalworking industry," said Mike Haughey, Sunnen’s Chief Operating Officer. "This background, coupled with his overall manufacturing industry knowledge and contacts, positions him as the ideal person to drive the introduction of Sunnen’s new technologies for improving the performance of small engines, hydraulic valves, gears, diesel injectors, diesel cylinder liners and gas and oil products."
In his new role, Rogers will set the direction for Sunnen’s global marketing, product development and R&D priorities. He most recently was the U.S. National Sales & Marketing Manager for Renishaw, the world’s largest manufacturer of inspection probe and machine-tool calibration technologies.
"Sunnen is on the verge of a new significance in manufacturing," Rogers stated. "Its automated, high-production, precision bore machining technology lets manufacturers elevate their products to twenty-first-century performance levels, with lower emissions, noise and vibration, but with higher power densities, energy efficiency and better sealing. Finish bore machining to within 10 to 50 millionth’s of an inch automatically materially improves the combustion efficiency of small engines, for example, which are being targeted for emission reduction worldwide. This is more than a manufacturing technology. It is a performance-enhancing technology that is going to become synonymous with the most efficient consumer and industrial products. I am thrilled to be part of the team that brings this to the market."
An authority on dimensional precision and lean processes, Barry Rogers started his career on the manufacturing side with Honeywell Micro-Switch Div. and John Deere. He joined Renishaw in 1988 and rose through positions of increasing responsibility to ultimately become National Sales and Marketing Manager in 1998.
Sunnen Products is the world’s largest vertically integrated manufacturer of machining systems, abrasives, tooling and lubricants for precision bore sizing and finishing. The company employs more than 650 people worldwide, with offices, manufacturing and tech support facilities throughout Europe, China, the U.K. and U.S.
