Ohio Technical College (OTC) has partnered with Edelbrock for the second year in a row to host a Carburetor Challenge during the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, Calif., on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011.
The contest will be held on turn three in the Edelbrock trailer. OTC will award $1,500 to each participant, while the four fastest teams will compete in a final challenge to earn prizes including Edelbrock gear, Matco tools and tuition scholarships. The 1st place winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship; 2nd place $4,000; 3rd place $3,000; and 4th place $2,000.
“After hosting a popular carburetor challenge at the recent San Diego County Fair held at the Delmar Fairgrounds, we encourage additional California high school students to attend the Edelbrock Carburetor Challenge in Monterey and show their passion for the automotive industry,” said Tom King, director of enrollment management at OTC.
In addition to the challenge, Ohio Technical College instructor Steve McBride will be onsite to meet and talk with students interested in learning about the programs the college offers.
