Dart Fully Counterweighted LS Crankshaft

Precision CNC-machined from premium 4340 steel billets, the design incorporates heavy-duty rod cheeks and the LS1/LS6 short snout.

Dart’s unique fully counterweighted LS crankshaft was developed for high-stress LS engine applications. It features the unique use of eight counterweights instead of the usual six, making it fully counterweighted.

Precision CNC-machined from premium 4340 steel billets, the design incorporates heavy-duty rod cheeks and the LS1/LS6 short snout. Offered in either 3.622” stock stroke or a 4.000” stroker model, the crankshaft is “rough balanced” to 1,780 grams.

Fluidampr Harmonic Damper from Summit Racing Equipment

The factory harmonic damper on your modern GM, Ford, or Mopar V8 are ‘tuned’ to absorb what’s called torsional vibration in the engine’s normal operating RPM range. Performance modifications, particularly ones that increase torque, produce added vibration in an RPM range that the elastomer damper wasn’t designed to handle. That vibration will accelerate component wear,

Crankshaft Counterweights

Most engines are internally balanced, meaning all weight adjustment is done on the crankshaft counterweights. However, some stock and modified engines require external balancing due to an increased stroke or larger pistons, and the crankshaft counterweights that would be required to offset the increased inertia simply don’t fit inside the crankcase.
