Justin Gerebizza acquired a fully built ‘06 F-350 looking to achieve the 1,000-hp mark with a compound-turbo 6.0L Powerstroke engine. This Diesel of the Week is even more impressive when you realize it was built in 2015.

A seasoned owner of 6.0L Powerstroke engines, Justin Gerebizza’s journey started with an impressive ‘05 F-250, running mid-12s in the quarter mile and boasting around 650-rwhp. His unyielding pursuit of greater performance led him to acquire a fully built ‘06 F-350, a canvas upon which he reached the 1,000+ horsepower mark. This Diesel of the Week is even more impressive when you realize it was built in 2015. The details of the build were first reported on by DrivingLine and contributing editor Mike McGlothlin. Crafted by the original owner, Robert Shockley of Precision Automotive and Diesel, the 365 cid V8 at the heart of this powerhouse underwent meticulous enhancements. A cryogenically treated factory block and crank, R&R chromoly steel connecting rods, River City Diesel fly-cut, de-lipped, and ceramic-coated, .020” over pistons, and a Stage 2 camshaft formed a robust foundation. ARP Custom Age 625+ head studs secured the factory cast-iron heads, now equipped with River City Diesel High-Rev valve springs and chromoly pushrods, capped off with OE Ford head gaskets for resilience.

Delving into the fuel injection, Gerebizza’s prudent choice led him to hybrid injectors from Maryland Performance Diesel. Known for their conservative high-pressure oil demand, these 340cc hybrids, paired with 150% over nozzles, exhibit efficiency while requiring only a stock displacement high-pressure oil pump. The fuel delivery orchestration included a sump in the factory tank, an Aeromotive A1000 lift pump, and a regulated return system crafted by Precision Automotive and Diesel.

The engine’s capacity to handle substantial power is in large part due to the cryogenically treated crank, chromoly steel connecting rods, and the Stage 2 cam, which allow for a robust turbocharging setup. The compound-turbo system ensures a potent 85 psi of boost.

A Mishimoto intercooler, sandwiched between the High Tech Turbo-built S488 and a T4-mounted box S366 from BorgWarner, form a powerful combination. The collaborative effort between Maryland Performance Diesel and Robert Shockley extended to the turbo pedestal, up-pipes, and intercooler plumbing.

Managing the immense torque and power output of this Powerstroke engine required a transmission of equal caliber. Gerebizza entrusted Maryland Performance Diesel with a Stage 2 TorqShift transmission. The 5R110 features billet input, intermediate, and output shafts, upgraded clutches, a modified valve body, and a triple-disc torque converter from Diesel Performance Converters.

The aesthetics of Gerebizza’s compound-turbo Powerstroke were no afterthought. The interior boasts a white-faced gauge cluster, Isspro gauges along the A-pillar, gloss white dash panel, and an ‘08-‘10 Super-Duty center console.

Gerebizza’s compound-turbo Powerstroke isn’t just a vehicle; it’s a testament to precision engineering, thoughtful parts selection, and expert collaboration within the diesel industry.
