Engine of the Week is presented by
Engine Builder has announced its annual Engine of the Year for 2020 – a Twin-Turbo Flat Six EG33 Subaru engine – built by Joe Hanna of ASF Machine in Grand Junction, CO. For the fourth consecutive year, Engine Builder presented its Engine of the Year award, which stems from the Engine of the Week series, sponsored by PennGrade Motor Oil, Elring and Scat Crankshafts.
Out of the 52 engines profiled in the series each year, a Top 10 engines are chosen by Engine Builder’s readers and social media audience for a chance to be crowned Engine of the Year.
The nominees for 2020 were:
- Turbocharged Honda B18C engine, built by 1320 DTR in Thornton, CO
- 331 cid Gen I Hemi engine, built by Southern Marine and Automotive in Guntersville, AL
- 370 cid Twin-Turbo LS engine, built by ACE Racing Engines in Torrance, CA
- Turbocharged M20B30 BMW engine, built by Munich Icons in Nieuwpoort, Belgium
- 436 cid Small Block Ford Dirt Late Model engine, built by Domhoff Racing Engines in Harmony, PA
- Twin-Turbo Flat Six EG33 Subaru engine, built by ASF Machine in Grand Junction, CO
- 1929 Duesenberg Straight-8 engine, built by Auto Machine Inc. in St. Charles, IL
- 427 cid Twin-Turbo LT engine, built by Modern Airflow Dynamics in Houston, TX
- 452 cid Small Block Chevy engine, built by Gibbons Motorsports in Mooresville, NC
- 383 cid Small Block Chevy engine, built by Capps Performance Engineering in Asheboro, NC
These Top 10 engines were pitted against one another in a two-week voting contest on Engine Builder’s website, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages, with the winner claiming the crown of Engine of the Year.
